The consequences of microbial burden can occur in the body even after the immune system or antibiotics have destroyed the microorganisms. So-called antigens can persist in the body. These are genetic structures of microorganisms or complexes of antigens and antibodies called immunocomplex. These burdens can mimic a continuing infection, but neither the immune system nor drugs can remove these toxins.
